Run the downloaded file
Open your Downloads folder and double-click
VSNSoft.MD.Converter.exe— no installer wizard, it opens directly.You'll see a blue "Windows protected your PC" screen — this is expected
It appears because the app is new and not yet widely recognized by Microsoft — not because anything is wrong with it.

Microsoft Defender SmartScreen prevented an unrecognized app from starting.

Clicking "More info" reveals a new button labeled "Run anyway" — that's the one that actually launches the app.
(Optional) Install Tesseract for OCR
To convert scanned images/screenshots, also install Tesseract OCR — free, one-time, separate from this app. Everything else works without it.
Unzip the download
Double-click the downloaded
.zip— macOS extracts it automatically. Drag VSNSoft MD Converter.app into your Applications folder.Right-click the app → "Open" — not a regular double-click
macOS blocks apps from outside the App Store by default. Right-clicking and choosing "Open" the first time shows an option a normal double-click won't.
What you'll see, and what to click
"VSNSoft MD Converter" can't be opened because Apple cannot check it for malicious software.
This is macOS Gatekeeper — right-clicking → Open (instead of double-click) is what gets you past this, the very first time only.
Confirm "Open" in the dialog that appears
After right-click → Open, macOS asks you to confirm once more — click "Open". It won't ask again after this.

To convert scanned images/screenshots, install Homebrew, then run
brew install tesseractin Terminal — free, one-time. Everything else works without it.
