Scanned documents, receipts, screenshots of text, and photographed pages work well. Photos with no text in them (landscapes, portraits, product shots) correctly come back empty rather than pretending to convert something. Handwriting is unreliable. OCR also reaches inside pasted/embedded images on PowerPoint slides and inside Word documents, not just standalone image files.
Yes — the free Tesseract OCR engine, installed separately (it's not bundled in, since it's a full system program, not a small library). Without it, images simply stay empty rather than the app failing.
No. Every conversion — including OCR — runs entirely on your machine. Nothing is sent to a server, ever, for any file you convert.
Conversion pauses until you activate a license key, which you receive by email after buying. Everything you already converted stays on your disk regardless.
